A change for good – introducing new data extraction software

From July 2015, the Improvement Foundation will be introducing new arrangements for the continued safe and secure submission of primary health care data to the Improvement Foundation’s web portal.

The software, known as the Canning Tool (developed by Arche Health), is a well-established product with a proven track record of almost ten years of collecting primary health care data. The Improvement Foundation is committing to work consultatively with the user community to further develop the Canning Tool’s features to meet current and future needs of primary health services and Primary Health Networks. If you would like to be actively involved in the development of the Canning tool, please email us on data@improve.org.au

The Improvement Foundation is dedicated to remaining a trusted and ethical partner within the health sector, and the Canning Tool software allows us to continue to provide an appropriate tool for primary health care data submission.

Use of the Canning Tool in conjunction with Improvement Foundation’s web portal provides a number of benefits that extend beyond data collection. The web portal provides users with the ability to support quality improvement initiatives, benchmark nationally and/or locally against peers, access resources that have been developed through a decade of quality improvement initiatives and network with colleagues through qiCommunity.

Improvement Foundation is excited by its new partnership with Arche Health (Arche Health has a strong history with the Canning Division of General Practice and the Bentley Armadale Medicare Local). As a fellow not for profit health organisation, Arche Health shares Improvement Foundation’s values and the values of our partners and participants. Whilst Improvement Foundation and Arche Health are approaching this as a commercial venture and will be responsive to market needs, both organisations are free from the commercial values that drive some privately owned companies, and are understanding of the needs and ethics of clinicians.

This relationship is a long term venture to provide a sustainable and affordable solution for health services and Primary Health Networks alike.

The Improvement Foundation will be contacting current Program participants and customers to ensure a smooth transition to the Canning Tool that will be provided free to participants of Improvement Foundation Programs, including the Primary Health Network Innovation Collaborative that will commence in July 2015.
