The Western Australian Vaccine Safety Surveillance system (WAVSS) web portal developed by The Improvement Foundation with our software partner OBS has won the 2014 South Australian iAward in the Health category. Read the full case study here.
The Western Australian Department of Health approached the Improvement Foundation to deliver a solution that would automate the adverse reaction reporting process. Previously the WA Department of Health used to capture data related to influenza vaccination manually via spread sheet. This was a manual and time consuming process. There was an identified need to automate the process via a web portal and to integrate a SMS (Short Message Service) notification system to capture responses from patients that are immunised.
The Improvement Foundation engaged software provider OBS to build the online vaccine surveillance system that would let the Department monitor adverse vaccine reactions faster than ever before.
The ‘Vaccination Surveillance System’ helps identify and report adverse immunisation reactions, enabling proactive identification of contaminated or otherwise compromised vaccines. It makes reporting adverse reactions simple and fast, letting authorities identify and remove at-risk vaccines from the health system more quickly.
